An interagency for services operating in Nundah with a view to working together to respond to emerging issues in our community.

Outcomes/Activities/Events

Monthly meetings at Northside Connect. The current focus is responding to unhoused people in the area.

Alcohol & Drug Foundation

Brisbane North Schools-Community partnership to respond to and prevent Alcohol and Other Drugs harms for young people

Outcomes/Activities/Events

A Community based seminar aimed to improve outcomes, safety and support for young people by equipping parents and caregivers with quality information, strategies and resources to support their young people.

ASID

Australasian Society for Intellectual Disability (ASID) has a clearly stated mission; this statement of intent is reviewed each year by the Board, and it is from this mission statement that all activities of the society flow.ASID is a peak body in intellectual disability research in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. Research gives us good evidence. Good evidence helps to make good policy and practice. Good policy and practice help people with intellectual disabilities to have good lives.

Aspley Special School

Support students in the school at risk of disengagement to increase safety, wellbeing & connections.

Outcomes/Activities/Events

- Created partnership with the school since January 2024 to provide mentoring and support to the whole school community to enhance Community Engagement, Wellbeing, Social and Emotional Support and Engagement in Learning.- Providing tailored individual support to young people to improve wellbeing and connection.

Brisbane North Youth Alliance

Sustain collaborative relationships with services in north Brisbane to support young people 12-18 at risk of disengagement and homelessness through community-based outreach support.

Outcomes/Activities/Events

- Development of the Youth Info Card since 2014- Collaborative partnerships between services.- Youth Week Events- Effective referral pathways- Joint PD opportunities

Inner Urban Youth Interagency

Connect with a wide range of services that support young people in the Inner Urban area of Brisbane.

Outcomes/Activities/Events

- Participate in interagency in the best interests of young people, including contribute to professional sharing and presentations, attend PD delivered by other members and resources sharing- Collaborative partnerships between services.- Effective referral pathways- Identify themes, needs and PD opportunities to sustain quality youth work practice across the sector.

IYHG

This is a unique not-for-profit company that operates as a housing co-operative that was set up and is run by its members: people with an intellectual disability. It was established by Community Living Program participants in 1989 to address housing affordability issues. The company currently has 11 properties and 15 members.

Metro North/Moreton Bay Community of Practice

Quarterly meeting where NDIS Support Coordinators come together to discuss and reflect a case study that they have found challenging, receive updates, and seek clarification from a NDIA representative about the NDIS, receive information from service providers and potentially connect with NDIS participants.

National Advocacy Collective

Supporting the Rights of Parents with Intellectual Disability.The National Advocacy Collective is a group of people across Australia who support the rights of parents with an intellectual disability.We know that there are lots of barriers for parents with an intellectual disability. We work together to change things and talk with governments to make positive change happen.The goal is to make sure the human rights of parents with an intellectual disability in Australia are recognised and that they have access to the support they need to achieve their parenting goals. We want governments to change systems so that they are fair and give parents the support they need.

Outcomes/Activities/Events

The National Advocacy Collective is a policy and advocacy group. This means that the group might talk to governments, talk to the media, share information, or write submissions. The intention is to create change to improve the experiences and outcomes for parents with intellectual disability.

Noonga Reconciliation Group Inc.

Supporting people’s organization to achieve their goals.Holding meaningful relationships with local community members and schools to promote wellbeing of First Nations young people and families.

Outcomes/Activities/Events

- Support delivery of National Sorry Day Gatherings for over 10 years- Sponsorship of CLA NAIDOC Week Elders Lunch 2023- CD Conference Presentation 2017; 2023- Relationships with First Nations community members and Elders in local area- Relationship with network of services and advisors in local area who support First Nation’s community.

Northside Alliance Against Domestic Violence

Connect with specialist and generalist services that respond to the effects of Domestic and Family Violence in north Brisbane.Strengthen generalist youth workers skills and knowledge in assessing and responding to DFV.Advocate for young people’s experiences in family and relationship context.

Membership for over 20 years.- Participaction in the Safety Card resource update biennial.- D&FV Prevention Month activities. - See resources below podcast regarding this topic that CLA contributed to.- Orange the World Activities.- Collaborative partnerships between services.- Effective referral pathways.

Northside Sexual Assault Action Network

Connect with specialist and generalist services that respond to the effects of Sexual Violence in north Brisbane.Strengthen generalist youth workers skills and knowledge in assessing and responding to sexual violence.Advocate for young people’s experiences of relationship and support.

Outcomes/Activities/Events

- Contributor to the formation of the network. Advocacy of the network resulted in fund programs for the north Brisbane area to cover gaps.- Sexual Violence Awareness Month Activities- Professional development opportunities for generalist workers- Collaborative partnerships between services.- Effective referral pathways

Nundah Community Enterprises Co-op

In 1995 several young adults with an Intellectual Disability who were supported by CLA were recounting how challenging it was to get and keep a job.They came together and formed a job club. They washed cars, cleaned houses, mowed yards and made some money.From this humble start, in 1998, Nundah Community Enterprises Co-operative (NCEC or Nundah Co-op) was formed to create sustainable employment and training opportunities for people with cognitive and/or psycho-social disabilities. CLA and NCEC work together under a Memoranda of Understanding to support the Co-op members to sustain their employment.CLA is proud to have been a constant support to NCEC on its journey. For us there is nothing more gratifying than to be able to say, yes we gave support ‘but the people did it themselves’.

Queensland Academy of Creative Industries

Support students in the school at risk of disengagement to increase safety, wellbeing & connections.

Outcomes/Activities/Events

- Created partnership with the school since January 2024 to provide mentoring and support to the whole school community to enhance Community Engagement, Wellbeing, Social and Emotional Support and Engagement in Learning.- Providing tailored individual support to young people to improve wellbeing and executive function to achieve learning goals.

RAAPT

Regional Adolecent Action Planning Team.Sunshine Coast specific network for workers from the Department of Child Safety, Placement Services Unit, Residential placement providers, BEROS, QPS, and other youth services. The purpose of the group is to build relationships, explore opportunities for collaboration, shared practice and sector development.

Outcomes/Activities/Events

The group convene regularly to build relationships and discuss themes arising for young people in the region.Each meeting, a service shares information about their youth programs, changes to service delivery and what they are seeing and responding to in their work.

Supporting Advocacy with Youth (lead by CHQ)

Improve responses by systems that struggle to effectively support young people living with mental health issues and other life circumstances (e.g., homelessness, DFV, childhood trauma, disability).Members include specialists in mental health, health & NGO services.
