BEROS Research Article - Features Valued by Self-Placing Young People in Specialist Support Services
This paper examines the experiences of 13 young people in out-of-home care who self-place and access specialist support services in Queensland, Australia. The findings highlight the importance of accessible and responsive support, trusting relationships with workers, fostering agency and choice, and advocacy for navigating complex systems. The study underscores the need for tailored services to improve resilience, safety, and sustainable outcomes for this vulnerable group.
