Volunteer Project

Literacy for Everyday

Each Friday the Literacy for Everyday group meets. Students receive individual volunteer tuition. Student curriculum is based on the everyday needs and interests of students.

John Monson, a literacy student with Literacy for Everyday published his frst book "Predicting a War" in 2007, a fictional account of war between China and Taiwan.

John published his second book "Policing Nundah" in April 2009, a fictional story based around the life of three brothers, one a policeman who discovers his siblings are criminals.  John's books can be purchased at our publication store here.

Individual Literacy tuition

Shared Meal

Every second Thursday evening CLP constituents and community members meet for a shared meal. Participants all bring a plate.

Village People

Village People comprise of CLP constituents and volunteers and meet for an occasional weekend activity or outing.

4 Us Savings

A micro finance project where CLP constituents and community members join to support each other in achieving their savings goals. The 4 US Savings Group have held a number of workshops to share their methodology with other people interested in micro savings.

The 4 Us Savings group published a booklet " The Story of the 4 Us Savings Group: a micro savings resource" in 2008 to share their story. It is available on our publication site.

Adventure Holiday group

The adventrue-holiday group organizes different physical activities to promote young people's physical nd mental well beings. Activities include weekend away at Dickey Beach and Boonah; bushwalks at Boondall Wetlands, Northbrooke Gorge and Daisyhill, rock climbing at Kangaroo Point and canoeing at Thorneside and Shorncliffe.  

Strong Families project

The purpose of this project is to support vulnerable children and families to engage in child development activities which will support children’s integration in the community and enable them to participate as do more advantaged children.
